The synodic cycle illustration below reveals the dates and locations in the ecliptic (sidereal zodiak) of the 399-day Earth-Jupiter Synodic Cycles occurring from 1986 through 2022. This illustration makes apparent how synodic cycles create spirals of growth in consciousness, much like the spiraling lunar cycles. The illustration also shows the Earth-Jupiter geometric mandala (discussed later in this article) produced by the Earth-Jupiter synods and Jupiter's retrogrades.
About Synodic Cycles
Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution. Learn the basics about Synodic Cycles & Synodic Astrology.
The Earth-Jupiter synods range in separation from ~30° to 37°, averaging about 399 Earth days (~13 months). The Earth-Jupiter synods are further apart when Jupiter is closer to the Sun (Jupiter's perihelion), because Jupiter is moving faster in its orbit. Thus it takes longer for Earth to catch up to Jupiter. Jupiter's perihelion occurs in latter-sidereal Pisces, conjoining Alpheratz of Andromeda (March 16, 2011). Jupiter and Earth are also closer in physical distance when their synods occur in this area of the zodiak. Conversely, the Earth-Jupiter synods are closer (in angular distance) when Jupiter is moving slower, which occurs when Jupiter is further from the Sun (Jupiter's aphelion); and Earth and Jupiter are further in physical distance. (For example: The Earth-Jupiter distance at the time of the Earth-Jupiter synod occurring in September 2010 produces one of closest Earth-Jupiter distances (3.954 AU). This will not occur again until 2022.
There is a set of eleven synods in the ecliptic before this synodic set starts to repeat, except they start to repeat about four to five degrees further along in the ecliptic. This illustration shows only three sets of synods around the ecliptic to make the geometric pattern more apparent. There are a total of 76 synods to fill the entire ecliptic. The 77th synod starts to repeat this larger set. This 77th synod occurs about one degree before the (relatively chosen) first synod. Thus this larger set of 76 synods precesses about 1° in the ecliptic, where as the set of eleven synods process about 4-5°.
The ratio 11:76 = 0.144736842105263 (or its inverse is 6.909 ). This number (144736842105263) can be considered a key harmonic for the Earth-Jupiter synodic resonance; as would be 360 x 0.144736842105263 = 52.10526315789468 (or 360 ÷ 0.144736842105263 = 2487.27272727273....
Earth-Jupiter Mandalas
Planetary Mandalas are derived from the planetary synods, retrograde periods, and the interacting cycles that the planets create as they move around the sun in their elliptical orbits. Planetary Mandalas are generally made using one or more planets. They can be geocentric-based and/or heliocentric-based. They can produce very simple patterns or extremely complex and elegant patterns.
Mandalas are similar to fractals, which iteratively unfold through self-similarity (like a snowflake unfolds by building upon itself). Planetary Mandalas are one of many ways to demonstrate how geometry communicates information, more so iteratively generated geometries like those produced from planetary cycles, much like the communicative function of the DNA molecule. Planetary Mandala's iterative formation elucidates the unified nature of planetary cycles and the formation and evolution of all life.
This image shows the beginning formation of a very basic Earth-Jupiter mandala. It shows the three sets of the eleven Earth-Jupiter retrogrades / synods, as discussed above. If we were to complete the mandala using all 76 synods, the pattern of loops would fill the entire ring. If we were to continue beyond that, we would begin to see each subsequent set of 76 synods precessing in the opposite direction.
The outer ring in this mandala shows the path and angular location of the Earth-Jupiter synods (a heliocentric perspective relative to the Sun). The inner loops reveal the retrograde periods of Jupiter (a geocentric perspective relative to Earth).
Since a synod occurs in the midst of a retrograde (See Synodic Cycles and Planetary Retrogrades to learn the basics about Synodic Cycles), the loops align with locations of the synods shown in the outer ring. The angular width of the loop is the angular width of Jupiter's retrograde as seen from Earth, which encompasses about 10° in ecliptical longitude (10° in an astrology chart).
Very basic planetary mandalas were first sketched by Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) (at least in recorded history), which he simply termed to be a planet's geocentric orbit. Kepler's most famous work is "Harmonia Mundi" (Harmony of the Worlds). Simple Planetary Mandalas can be drawn by hand or with graphics software, like the one I present above; or they can be generated with specialized computer software, which offers many other options to produce unique, stunning and mind-expanding meditative patterns.
See the works of Neil Michelsen and Mark Pottenger, who pioneered some of the computer software to produce planetary mandalas. See the more recent work of David Cochrane: Cosmic Cybernetics (there are beautiful example mandala images produced by Sirius Software on his page as well as an excellent discourse on planetary mandalas. Jupiter - A Solar Sytem of Its Own

Jupiter is the fourth brightest object in the heavens (after the Sun, Moon and Venus). It has an equatorial diameter of 142,984 km. Jupiter is more than 11 times the diameter of Earth and about 1/10 that of the Sun. Jupiter is more than twice as massive as all of the other planets combined. Jupiter is commonly know as the "Wondering Star." The name Jupiter is from Jove (the Greek Zeus)--King of the Gods.
Jupiter is a "gas giant." Gas giants do not have solid cores, the gas simply gets denser moving toward the planet's interior and turns to liquid, although the core most likely has some rocky material. Jupiter is 90% hydrogen and 10% helium and radiates more energy than it receives from the Sun. Above the core lies "liquid metallic hydrogen," composing the main bulk of the planet. This is an exotic form of Hydrogen (the mother of all elements), which consists of ionized protons and electrons. This electrically conductive ionized hydrogen along with Jupiter's rapid rotation is the source of Jupiter's massive, complex and intense magnetosphere, which extends to encompass Jupiter's many moons and past the orbit of Saturn. This certainly contributes to Jupiter's mobilizing and expansive force recognized by astrologers.
Jupiter's atmosphere has high velocity winds which move in bands around the planet in alternating directions. This creates the stripes on Jupiter, and is what we see when looking at Jupiter through a telescope. The Great Red Spot (seen in this movie) is a long standing vortex of swirling winds between two of the alternating bands.
Jupiter's Moons
Jupiter's Main Moons
Io has active volcanoes; Europa may have underground oceans; Callisto shows fields of craters; and Ganymede has unexplained grooves around its surface.
Jupiter has many Moons, about 63. Its four prominent moons are Io, Europa, Callisto and Ganymede, the largest. These are planet-sized worlds. Io, Europa and Ganymede are locked together in a 1:2:4 orbital resonance. That means that for each orbit of Ganymede around Jupiter, Europa orbits twice; and Io orbits four times. All four moons a locked in a synchronous orbit--always showing the same face to Jupiter. This is a demonstrable example of the harmonic organization inherent in nature and of Jupiter's ruling character.

Jupiter's four primary Moons (Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto) are called the Galilean moons, named after Galileo, who discovered them in 1610.
Ganymede, Jupiter's largest moon, is 5,262 km (3,280 miles) in diameter. It is also the largest in our solar system. In comparison, Earth's Moon is 3,476 km in diameter.
Jupiter's Callisto
Jupiter's Europa
Jupiter's Ganymede
Ganymede has mountains, valleys, craters and lava flows. Its intricate pattern of unexplained ridges and troughs are a few hundred meters high and are thousands of kilometers in length.
Jupiter's Many Moons
Jupiter's many moons and their orbits are shown in this image to the right. Many of them are named for other mythical figures associated with the life of Zeus.
Jupiter's Orbital Cross
Jupiter's greatest influence on the Sun & Earth
Jupiter's greatest magnetic influence on the Sun occurs when Jupiter is at its perihelion (Jupiter's closest point to the Sun during its orbit). Jupiter's greatest influence on Earth occurs when Earth and Jupiter align (the Earth-Jupiter synods) during Jupiter's perihelions. These Synodic Cycles are thus more influential then those occurring during Jupiter's aphelions.
Jupiter's orbital positions also effect sunspot activity as do those of Saturn. The interactive orbits of Jupiter and Saturn also synchronize with solar cycle activity; and hence Earth's geophysical activity and climate fluctuations--a topic of its own.
Astrologers might consider that people born during the peak influences (shown in gold bands in the illustration below) may have a greater Sun-Jupiter resonance as well as a stronger Earth-Jupiter synodic theme into which they were born. If a person is born very near a synod occurring during a perihelion, Jupiter's influence may be extra significant.
Jupiter's Perihelion 19° 28' sidereal Pisces (01S18); Sun-Jupiter Distance 4.95... AU.
Sep 21, 2010 Synod - Earth-Jupiter Distance: 3.95393 AU
Oct 29, 2011 Synod - Earth-Jupiter Distance: 3.96975 AU
Sep 26, 2022 Synod - Earth-Jupiter Distance: 3.95256 AU
Nov 03, 2023 Synod - Earth-Jupiter Distance: 3.98237 AU
The Earth-Jupiter synodic cycles of September 21, 2010 and October 29, 2011 occur during Jupiter's 2011 perihelion and thus are emphasized; as is the new 13.5-year Jupiter-Uranus synodic cycle starting on Sept 23, 2010.
The September 21, 2010 synod produces the closest Earth-Jupiter distance in our current (2011) perihelion window, with next occurring in September of 2022. The September 21, 2010 synod is also extra significant due to the synchronization with the new 13.5-year Jupiter-Uranus synod. Thus, the Earth-Jupiter synodic cycles starting with the September 21, 2010 Synod nest in the new 13.5-year Jupiter-Uranus synodic cycle theme.
Recent Earth-Jupiter synodic themes can be found here.
Jupiter's Perihelion & Aphelion
The Perihelion star alignments reveal the area of a planet's primary influence in our lives. The Aphelion (opposite perihelion) star alignments provide perspective to the nature of its primary influence--sort of the intent behind or motivating its presence. Here, at the furthest reaches from the Sun, the planet gather's its momentum, and begins its journey back toward its perihelion--to bring forth the quality of its aphelion through its perihelion presence.
All sidereal longitudes are referenced to the Galactic Ayanamsa (add 00° 14' for Fagan-Bradley).
Jupiter's Perihelion (Area of Prominent Influence)
Jupiter's perihelion resides at 19° 28' sidereal Pisces, slightly south of the ecliptic (01S18). The primary star is Alpheratz, Alpha Andromeda. Conjoining Alpheratz is Alderamin, Alpha Cepeus.
This is a principal geometric resonance point in the ecliptic. This ecliptical longitude is also the meridian (MC) of the South Galactic Pole (18° 57' Pisces); as well as the Birthplace (17.857142°... Pisces) of the The Sixth Polar Station (17.857142°... sidereal Gemini). This is the location of the vernal point (Birthplace of the Sol/Soul) when Earth's North Celestial Pole (NCP) is at the Sixth Polar Station of the Heptanomis, which occurred around 1070 AD. (The vernal point is always 90° before the NCP's ecliptical location.)

Alpheratz is one of four stars of the Great Square of Pegasus and is part of Andromeda and Pegasus both. As Alpha Andromeda, it is the head of the princess in chains. By its alternative name Sirrah, it is Delta Pegasus.
The stars of the Great Square of Pegasus, and the relationship of Andromeda and Pegasus, reveal the means to free our selves from the lower psycho-emotional world, to claim our mastery while incarnate upon the stage of material dramatics. This is to claim our bodies of light, our illumined awareness. Alpheratz, Algenib, the wing of Pegasus, and Caph of Cassiopeia, the beneficent, generous, and guiding hand of the queen, are referred to as the three guides (because of their alignment at one time marking Earth’s prime meridian, 0 hrs). These three stars provide another cosmic key for us in our quest for true freedom. Algenib, a very fortuitous star brings the message of the need to refine all aspects of our bodies and lives so we can lift ourselves above the entrapping psychic-emotional drama and claim our divine destiny.
Alpheratz, head (psyche) of the princess, is unadulterated, innocent, naive, uncorrupted by evil, wrong-doing or malice; and holds a position of extraordinary honor and advantage--this star often portending success and riches through social popularity and achievement.
Although the stage setting in which Andromeda is trapped (chained to rocks about to be devoured by Cetus) seems complex, two primary things must occur for her freedom. One is an inner metamorphosis, a psycho-emotional maturing into the readiness to receive aid, the other is the assistance from her destined partner, who also had to mature through his own initiatory rite.

This composite image is a product of combining data from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope's multiband imaging photometer and the infrared array camera. The thermal emission at 24 microns measured by the photometer (red) is combined with near-infrared emission from the camera at 3.6/4.5 microns (blue) and from 5.8/8.0 microns (green). The colors of the diffuse emission and filaments vary, and are a combination of molecular hydrogen (which tends to be green) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (brown) emissions.

Often time, we are ready to change only when in the chains of the human struggle. And our inner readiness precedes receiving support to change. Forceful attempts to break free before we are ready only tighten the chain of bondage. Here lies our need to break free from the human mold, from the genetic, cultural, and personal pattering forming our lives. Andromeda represents the struggle for freedom from the collective and tormenting forces of the psycho-emotional human world, to claim our true galactic birthright and evolutionary destiny. Alpheratz's fortuitous position ultimately brings success and reward in this worthy pursuit.
Alignments with Alpheratz can indicate being caught in the power plays unconsciously created by the arrogance or denials of others. Alpheratz can also indicate our vulnerability to the emotional and psychic delusions of others, especially those in our genealogical line or karmic past--often manifesting as elaborate emotional dramatics. Alpheratz asks us to get un-entangled from the human psycho-emotional drama, or accept a sentence of bondage not rightfully ours.
Alderamin, the principal star of Cepheus, is the right shoulder of king Cepheus, father of the Royal Family, often portraying one in an authoritative position, and holds a quality of authoritative responsibility. With afflicted alignments, Alderamin can expresses as denial, avoidance, or turning one's head from dealing with the manipulative power plays causing our or other people's entrapment, and a flippant attitude to do anything about them. Here we can live in submission to manipulative forces rather than to stand up for self and for those unjustly held in bondage, even when it is our responsibility to do so. Alderamin ultimately comes to aid, but often after an initial aloofness. Alpheratz and Alderamin amalgamate to form a fortunate outcome, but sometimes drawn out through the emotional Piscean waters, and a long period of unwillingness or simple naivete to look at and acknowledge how we are immersed in a pool of psycho-emotional denial and that our growth and maturity is prerequisite to our greater freedom of being.
Alderamin conjoins Zeta Andromeda, which is ecliptically south of Alderamin, and the two form a triangle to the Super Giant Garnet Star, Erakis, which lies a few degrees earlier in sidereal Pisces. The Garnet star lies at the head of the King, imparting a quality of royalty, prominence, largeness, passion, prosperity, abundance and wealth.
Thus we can see the nature of Jupiter's expansive mobilizing force in our lives, suggesting Jupiter supports abundance, freedom, has authoritative social influence, is of honor and advantage, and serves to free that which is held in bondage for the manifestation of a greater potential and imparts this responsibility. Associated with King Cepheus, Jupiter intercedes by mobilizing a higher-law, superceding man's mundane law.
Jupiter's Aphelion (Motive or Potential driving Jupiter's Influence)
Jupiter's Aphelion resides at 19° 28' sidereal Virgo, slightly north of the ecliptic (01N18). The primary stars are Algorab, the Raven, Eta Corvus; Beta Hydra; the Sombrero Galaxy M104 in Virgo; the Quasar 3C279 of Bootes; Beta Volans; and 70 Virgo, a star where one of first planets was discovered orbiting another star. The planet was estimated to have nine times the mass of Jupiter and an orbital eccentricity similar to that of Venus. The discovery of 70 Virgo as a planetary star system, although not a prominent star, suggests that we might be open to new possibilities where none were previously perceived.
In general, sidereal Virgo is about preparation and purity of self for our greatest well being and highest evolutionary attainment. On a mundane level, Virgo is of hard work; is health conscious and methodical in development and progress; creating order, continuity and stability; new beginnings, cultivation and harvest--the sign of agriculture; with a meticulous, organized nature and strong focus in communication and logistics.
Corvus is of high intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, insight and adaptability. The brains of Ravens are among the largest of any bird species. They are problem solvers, inventors and are highly opportunistic. Corvus is the keeper of secrets and a knowledge holder, but is also a prophetic revealor--the "raven messenger bird" to those who are spiritually and physically attuned, and who ask and listen. Corvus reminds us to pay attention to the signs or messages naturally expressing through the world around us moment-by-moment. The signs found in the simplest of life experience can have meaning if we are willing to be attentive to them. In fact, we can even ask to receive guidance simply by briefly holding the intent to inquire and then letting it go. It is the sincere projection of clear intent that vibrationally invokes a response from the world around us. Corvus is a protector as well, of both the animal and human worlds, and will forewarn of approaching danger to avert unnecessary mishaps, as well as to affirm fortuitous opportunities, meetings or events so we may act accordingly. Corvus invites us to maintain acute attentiveness to everything occurring around us; to read the signs in the moment occurring in our everyday lives; and to adapt accordingly.

This ESO PR Photo of the Sombrero Galaxy was obtained with FORS1 multi-mode instrument at VLT ANTU on January 30, 2000. It is a composite of three exposures in different wavebands. Image Credit: ESO
Conjoining Algorab and Corvus is Quasar 3C279, which lies exactly on the ecliptic plane, along the spinal column of the Virgin, its spinal placement again articulating the natural mechanism or neurology of subtle energy communication. Quasar 3C279 can stimulate imagery in the natural world that acts as "messages through nature," which must be listened to and acted upon, as nature’s expression is the guidance itself.
Quasars (Quasi-Stellar-Radio-Source) are not only visible objects, but they emit a wide band of photons (light particles) throughout the electromagnetic spectra, from the infrared up through human's visible range of light, through the ultra-violet (UV), the gamma rays range, and into the radio range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Their multi-spectral emanations tend to stimulate an awareness that extends beyond or pierces our rather narrow band of visual perception, thereby offering new non-conforming possibilities of conceptual thought. They can express as images or non-conforming forms that can draw us into a transcendent perceptual exploration, which then motivates new behavior or a new expression fitting to our expanded awareness. In general, we might think of quasars as providing stimulus for alternative creative conception and expression.
The Hydra, in general, is of transcendent forces, those stirring at a sub-conscious level. Beta Hydra along with Xi Hydra were the Chinese "Tsing Kew" meaning "Green Hill" (Allen). Beta Hydra, conjoining Algorab of Corvus is of warnings regarding subtle forces that may lie hidden just below the surface of our conscious awareness, or just around the bend or over the hill along our paths. Here is where we find Corvus providing messages about such potential encounters, not only for our protection and/or guidance, but also for the protection for all life in the natural world that we might injure if we are not cautious and attentive. Beta Hydra invites us to submerge into a more subtle state of perception, to be attentive to our surroundings' natural expression, to perceive that which we do not yet see.
Volans (Piscis Volantis), the unique flying fish, generally found in warmer tropical oceans, is known for its wing-like pectoral fins that allow it to glide through the air. Volans, resides quite south in the heavens, under the stern and keel of the Argo, which is associated with navigational mapping and transcendent forces and evolutionary currents that direct our lives. Volans is associated with our soul-ar plane (not earth plane), specifically, laying the foundation that supports our souls' uninhibited true expression.
The flying fish mythically articulates an extraordinary force, the ability to gather the momentum and build up the speed to make the leap into and glide through a new realm of experience, one not common to itself. Generally the flying fish is leaping into the air to avoid its predators, adding the element of strategically creating an alternative environment for a safe passage. Primarily however, I tend to take Volans to articulate the soul in its submerged transcendent environment about to birth into visible form--a theme of the Virgin. Volans conjunction with the thigh of Boötes and the sacrum of the Virgin brings awareness about the subtle but powerful soul-directed primal / sexual / creative forces guiding our lives and the need to participate with powerfully directed intimate sensitivity of intent to pierce the limiting envelope of our existing perceptional bubble and birth a new life expression.
This zodiakal longitude in sidereal Virgo is about personal attunement, astute attentiveness to the natural world around us; and about acting upon the messages expressing through the natural world to mobilize change in our lives and in our world--opportunities otherwise lost. Uranus is exalted in sidereal Virgo, which also elucidates the more refined neurological nature and higher mental creative prowess common to this area of sidereal Virgo.
Jupiter's aphelion stellar resonance suggests its expansive mobilizing force expresses from attunement to the natural world and nature's guiding forces. It is supportive of new alternatives and life experience; is of purity and is resonant to our greater and harmonious wellbeing. Hence Jupiter upholds natural law.
The Jupiter-Eris-Makemake Relationship
Eris, the Great Disruptor, was discovered on Jan 5, 2005. The discovery of Eris catalyzed the demotion of Pluto and the creation of the new classification of planets to which Pluto, Eris and other newly discovered planets now belong--the family of "Dwarf Planets." Eris created quite a commotion in the astronomical and astrological communities, but a fitting restructuring followed.
Eris' perihelion, although further north of the ecliptic, conjoins Jupiter's aphelion in sidereal Virgo within a fraction of a degree; and Eris's aphelion conjoins Jupiter's perihelion in sidereal Pisces.
Does Jupiter and Eris have some similarities? Eris is a disruptor, but with purpose to expand our awareness. Eris dismantles limiting conceptual boundaries to open us to a more embrace cosmology by creating some upset in our existing, limiting and antiquated structures of consciousness. Eris gets us to embrace a larger truth or reality. This is similar to Jupiter's expanding force; although Jupiter expands more by mobilizing upon that which already exists rather than by creating an upheaval; but Jupiter can get us to leave our past limitations and life scenarios when aspecting more catalyzing planets (like Uranus or Pluto). Eris does seem to work in areas associated with the natural world, our world view and our fundamental life experience, which is fitting to Eris' perihelion in sidereal Virgo (Corvus) (Jupiter's aphelion). Eris also seems to have a motive driven with a dramatic emotional effect, fitting to its aphelion in sidereal Pisces (Alpheratz); whereas Jupiter tends to free up that which bound in turmoil. More about Eris.
Newly discovered Makemake's aphelion-perihelion axis lies just 3° further in ecliptical longitude, with its perihelion conjoining Revati of sidereal Pisces; and with its aphelion conjoining Kraz of Corvus and Seginus of Bootes. Here too we may find some similarities with Jupiter and Eris. Makemake seems to be associated with the balance or reestablishing balance in life areas associated with the administration of resources. Makemake may be somewhat of a disruptor in a sense that it makes apparent the fierce competition amongst those seeking controlling power over resources, and the covert use or miss-application of resources; yet ultimately to help us realize we need to bring our administration of resources into a new state of balance, one that supports the nourishment for the greater world populous--or deal with the devastating ramifications. More about Makemake.
Jupiter's Nodes
A planet's Nodal Axis can be thought of as a magnetic pointer, revealing a planet's path of movement and action--(from the planet's south node theme to its north node theme) as it interacts in our lives on Earth. Jupiter's Nodal Axis is created by the intersection of Jupiter's orbital plane and Earth's orbital plane (the ecliptic).
The Descending (south) Node stars reveal the nature of that which we must bring forth and express through the theme revealed by the the Ascending (north) Node stars--how to apply the south node theme through the north node theme. We can consider the south node to reveal an area driving our need to change, and the north node to reveal the area for externalized action, how to change.
Jupiter's South Node lies in mid-sidereal Gemini and its Jupiter's North Node lies in mid-sidereal Sagittarius.

Jupiter's (descending) South Node resides at 15° 22' sidereal Gemini and conjoins Alhena, Mebsuta and Alzirr of Gemini; Urodelus of Ursa Minor; the Quasar OH471 in Auriga; and the Cone Nebula / star cluster NGC2264 of Monoceros the Unicorn.
"The Twins" are marked by the two principal stars: Pollux, the immortal extraterrestrial one, and Castor the mortal terrestrial one, the extraterrestrial incarnate. These two stars, which mark the Twins' heads, lie in the last few degrees of sidereal Gemini. The Twins stand upon the galactic equator at a 60° angle to the ecliptic plane, with the "Feet of the Twins" lying in earlier Gemini, upon the "Gate of Man". Thus, Gemini is a galactic constellation and an ecliptical constellation, which inspires the expression of sol / soul purpose through the daily activity of humankind--the theme of the Gate of Man. Sidereal Gemini is of high intensity intellectual communication, information, commerce, goods and services, and of their exchange.
The role of the Gemini Twins is of partnership in mutual cooperation participating in the human world, one of linking and uniting the mission of the soul (galactic plane) into and through our daily affairs in the world. The Twins work hand-in-hand for the betterment and evolutionary fulfillment of humankind.
The theme of the Twins was also expressed by Romulus and Remus, founders and guardians of Rome; the immortal and mortal sons of Zeus in Greek mythology; and who, along with Hercules, were part of the crew of the Argo--seeing to the fulfillment of the evolutionary mission of the soul.
Alhena is the brand, mark or seal, and along with Alzirr, marks the foot of Pollux the ambassador. They both conjoin Mebsuta, Epsilon Gemini, which is a part of Castor the link and liaison Alhena represents "commencement" and inspires us to act on our greater truth and purpose. Alhena is a marking stone for the unfoldment of what lies ahead and indicates a milestone or a turning point has been reached. It reveals our need to get off of the fence of indecision, to drop any hesitation, as the "time is at hand" to take action. As the brand, Alhena also indicates that the time, events, or relations are marked or may be destined. Alhena can also indicate the need to sign a document or legalize a project, involvement, or commitment. It is the consecration of our commitment through demonstrable action that anchors the etheric vision of our soul truth into the physical plane to become realized truth. This concretization prepares for a greater event yet to come. Alhena can also manifest simply as a unique sign, indicating an opportunity is at hand. As the dividing star of the sidereal sign of Gemini, Alhena indicates a separation, a leaving, a departure, even an exodus. Behaviorally, Alhena marks the leaving an older or less fulfilling way of participation or way of life, a time of transfiguration.
Conjoining Alhena is Quasar OH471 of Auriga. It, along with Beta Monoceros, inspires action upon opportunity marked in a unique or magical way that brings fragmented pieces into unified effort destined for fulfillment.
Jupiter's North Node in Sidereal Sagittarius
Jupiter's (ascending) North Node resides at 15° 22' sidereal Sagittarius and conjoins Alpha and Beta Scutum; AM Hercules X-ray source; Gamma Mensa of the Table Mountain; and the Facies M22 Globular Cluster and Nunki, both of Sagittarius.
Sagittarius, stargate to Galactic Center, is commonly referred to as the Sagittarian Centaur, Zen Archer, or the First Horseman whose arrow points toward Galactic Center. Sagittarius, like Gemini, is both a galactic constellation and an ecliptical constellation (lying upon the galactic equator and the ecliptic) and oversees the "Gate of God" (5° sidereal Sag)--the primary fiducial (marking point) of Earth's ~25,000 year Precessional Heavenly Cross. Sagittarius is the Galactic City of Light responsible for the higher spiritual education about our galactic heritage and the evolution of the soul. It is of majesty, higher spiritual principles and lofty vision.
From R.H. Allen, "Star Names: Their Lore & Meaning": Sagittarius is "...the Strong One, and Illuminator of the Great City (i.e., galactic center); Light of the White Face; and on the stones of Sippara (the Sepharvaim of the Old Testament)--a solar city Sagittarius, 'appears sculptured in full glory.'"
It is not uncommon for those with a prominent Sagittarian influence to experience the entire world populous and life in general as intimately and intensely as they experience themselves--requiring spiritual and soul maturity to embrace this fusion of consciousness. This Unified Galactic Consciousness is also what creates the incredible passion, zeal and pursuit for Truth that is often found driving the Sagittarian and guiding their arrow--they truly run on Galactic currents and Divine directive.
The Sagittarian Centaur can pursue only the totality of his dreams, blatantly states his truth, and call a spade a spade. For the Centaur to pursue less would be to negate the Galactic Truth he lives and breaths. Loyalty to a higher vision is all he knows, to deny him intimacy with life, the majestic space he needs, or pursuit of his spiritual mission, is to break the spirit of a stallion, which has known only the wild and free.
In shooting his arrow of Truth, the Zen Archer destroys that which must die, the false truths and false gods of fear that lie hidden within self. It is this directness that causes the Centaur to often seem blatant and tactless. Behind this tenacity however is a galactic fire and profound love that few comprehend. Only those that know this find the true Centaurian to be a tremendously loyal friend.
Friend and siderealist Andrés Takra on Sagittarius: "Sagittarians are friendly, happy, ambitious and grandiose. They like to be noticed by others. They are often leaders in tribal affairs, politics and government offices, as well as in social-reform movements (Uranus exalted in sidereal Sag ~9°). They are at home in organizations groups, meeting, and conventions. They are great organizers and directors, and compose what we call the bourgeoisie. They are the patrons of the arts. They are fond of good food, wine, ease and comfort. You will never see people strongly governed by Jupiter living in squalor and misery. They seek quality and quantity! Sagittarians love to travel to distant places and are adventurous... Their colour is blue ...signifying nobleness, elevation and truth."
The Sagittarian Centaur sees beyond the limitations of human suffering and fearful expression. He sees raw human experience serving souls' greater growth, and it is this that he is willing to fight and die for. The Sagittarian Centaur sees with a unique angle (galactic plane 60° to ecliptic plane), view or perspective, with a “Zen Eye” and shoots his arrow of dreams toward a very unique and visionary pursuit.
M22 Globular Star Cluster
Considered to be one of finest in the sky, it is one of the brightest and can be seen with the naked eye on a clear night. It is about the size of a Full Moon and has about 500,000 stars.

Jupiter is of course at home in sidereal Sagittarius and its North Node lying at the center of the sign is significant and energized. It lies just behind the bow of the archer, a point strength, stability and full potential. It conjoins Nunki, Sigma Sag and Faces M22 Globular Cluster.
Facies, M22, is considered to be one of the finest globular cluster of stars in the heavens. It is elliptical in form and contains approximately 500,000 stars. It lies less than one degree north of the ecliptic, thus the planets frequently conjoin and synthesize with its essence. M22 marks the face of the Zen Archer and looks over the bow and hand of the Zen Archer. Facies brings undaunted conviction, stability and confidence to create and manifest our highest aspirations. The theme here is one of total honesty with self. Facies asks us to face our naked truth, focus our intent, and manifest it. To live in that honesty creates the strength and undaunted focus of the Zen Archer, and his ability live for and defend his truth, and to hit the target of his ideals and dreams.
Often described as exotic and enigmatic, northern AM Hercules expresses a powerful magnetic synchronizing force capable of assembling spirit substance into exquisite order in form. Here is a spiraling but directed force to funnel our intent into ordered achievement.
The Coronet Cluster is an active star-forming region, like that of the Orion Nebula, but over three times closer to Earth. "This composite image shows the Coronet in X-rays from Chandra (purple) and infrared emission from Spitzer (orange, green, and cyan). The Spitzer image shows young stars plus diffuse emission from dust. In the Chandra data many of these young stars appear as blue objects, revealing their output of high-energy X-rays and the amount of obscuring dust and gas in the region."

Nunki, Sigma Sag, is the "Proclamation of the Sea." Nunki and Phi of Sagittarius, at the Archer's hand, mark the fletching of the Zen Archer's arrow. The fletching of an arrow is what causes it to spin and have stability in flight, making it possible for the arrow to accurately move through space to hit its target. It is a point of stability, confidence, and attunement. Nunki inspires us to attune to and trust in the flowing waters of spirit substance, the underlying power of the galactic ocean of divine love. Nunki teaches us to steer our intent with undaunted love, which is the guiding and stabilizing force used to direct the Zen Archer's arrow. It is our capacity to invoke and access the power and confidence of divine love that enables our intent of purpose to manifest our heart's truth from the unified field of creative intelligence.
Conjoining Nunki is the Coronet Cluster in Corona Australis, the Southern Crown protected by the Zen Archer. Corona Australis, considered an auspicious constellation, had been in existence since time immemorial. It is associated with the "Laurel Crown," a sign of victory, as worn by the Greek god Apollo--and hence the name "Laureate."
The theme at this ecliptical location invites us to refine our form, to get into a proper stance in life, to reorganize and prioritize so we become one with our purpose in all aspects of our lives. There is no helter-skelter approach here, only undaunted clarity within and the execution of our purpose and intent to manifest our highest aspirations--lest we will merely blow in the increasing and accelerating winds of change.
Jupiter's North Node also conjoins the stars of Scutum, Galactic Shield of the Earth's Precessional Holy Cross, Scutum lies just north of the Zen Archer along the galactic equator and north of the Galactic Equatorial Node (GEN), the Gate if God. The Galactic Shield is emblazoned with the symbol of the Holy Cross (the cross within the circle). Scutum is “Defender of the Holy Cross”--of the greater evolutionary Truth of the soul--and fulfillment of the evolutionary precessional cycle of the soul--what the Zen Archer undauntedly lives, stands and unquestionably is willing to die for--the evolutionary fulfillment of all souls. To learn more about the Cycle of the Holy Cross and the precessionally driven Evolutionary Cycle of the Soul, visit the Holy Cross web page.
Jupiter's South to North Node axis motivates us to apply our daily activities in the world (Gemini) toward the higher spiritual principles, vision, and truth articulated by the Zen Archer.
Jupiter's Orbital Cross in Summary
