Another World Underneath a Drop of Water (Part 1)
In the book “Messages from Water” are marvelous photographs of hexagonal crystals. Some crystals are clear and some are hazy; some are intricate and some are simple.
At first glance, the photographs appear to be the masterful work of a great photographer. However, when one looks closely at the captions of the photographs, one will see that the photographs are results of a scientific experiment. They are the snapshots of water crystallization taken under a microscope by the author Dr. Masaru Emoto, head of the Hado Institute (IHM Corporation) in Tokyo, and his research team.
According to what was described by the chief researcher in the experiment, the following procedure was used: While in a laboratory set to –5 degrees C, a researcher takes out a glass container from a refrigerator and quickly puts it under a microscope that has a camera mounted to it. A drop of water that has been exposed to a unique mind-intent, language, form of music, word, or physical factor is placed in the container and becomes frozen, forming a small ice hummock.
When the light from the microscope shines on it, it causes the ice to start to melt. At the top of the ice hummock, a water crystal is quickly formed which can only survive for a few seconds. The biggest challenge for the experimenters is to focus the camera rapidly enough to capture the beautiful image.
The approach used is quite straightforward. For a given set of the test environment, the researchers would conduct the same experiment on approximately ten to a hundred different water samples and then do statistical analysis on them. The photographs of water crystals shown in the book are the most representative of the results obtained.
Crystal Responses
In the experiments, the response of water when exposed to different mind-intents, languages, music, words, physical factors (such as vibrations, microwaves, electromagnetic waves ), and many other factors have been systematically observed.
Water samples taken from a lake after an earthquake were not able to produce crystals at all. However, after some people said a prayer, the water samples were again able to produce crystals.
In another experiment, when the same word, such as "wisdom," was written in different languages and then placed on the labels of different water sample containers, the water crystals that were produced had the same shape and structure.
The water taken from containers that had positive words such as "love" and "thank you" placed on them produced brilliant crystals, while the water taken from containers with bad words such as "hatred" and "demon" on them made horrifying and ugly water crystals.
The researchers made another discovery: When a piece of ice is about to melt, the crystal formed looks the same as the Chinese character for water.
The experiments are enough to make us wonder and ask ourselves how little we know about water. How can water respond to the different emotions and feelings of humans? Is it possible that water has sensory functions and the ability to change according to its environment? Can water distinguish good from evil, beauty from ugliness? If it can, how does it do it? What is the real origin of water? Are there common universal messages that go beyond words and language?
Life cannot exist without water. If water is able to sense things, do we need to re-examine our understanding of life all over again? How should we use this knowledge to improve the quality of our lives?
Those questions seem to go beyond what the so-called mainstream contemporary science can answer. With the current notions of science, it is difficult to explain how it's possible that emotions, words, prayers, and so on, can affect the crystallization of water.
Broadening Vision
There seems to be ways to improve the experiment. The process of crystallization is on a microscopic level and disappears in the twinkling of eye. If the whole crystallization process is captured with a video camera instead of the several still photographs taken from a camera, the results would be more convincing.
Furthermore, scientists might start to ask different questions. One question is what kind of transformations are taking place on a physical and chemical level by those emotions, words, intentions, and so on that can affect water crystallization. Perhaps doing more research in these areas will allow us to better understand the water crystal experiments. In turn, it might break through some of the outdated and rigid mindsets scientists currently have.
However, Dr. Emoto has no interest in trying to gain more acceptance from the community of mainstream science since what he has realized from his experiments has broadened his vision. He wrote on the cover page of the book “Messages from Water”:
Hado (wave) creates words
Words are the vibrations of nature
Therefore beautiful words create beautiful nature
Ugly words create ugly nature
This is the root of the universe
Dr. Emoto has been invited to many countries to present his research findings and philosophical thoughts. He acts as a messenger using his unique perspective to bring forth love in human beings. He has initiated a global activity called "Expressing Our Love and Thanks to Water."
With his work, Dr. Emoto hopes to change the quality of water and purify the earth's water resources through people's kind intentions. After referring to the mysterious Mayan calendar and prophecy, he declared July 25, 2003, as the global commemoration day for this activity.
In fact, when people can treat water, the source of life, with love and thanks, is it only the water that people will improve? The significance of the water crystal experiments will transcend the imagination of everyone.
Interview With Dr. Masaru Emoto
Reporter: Dr. Emoto, I read your book "Messages from Water." I feel it is very unique. You brought up several very meaningful topics. At the end of the book, you wrote, "If water did not originally exist on earth but came from outer space, then it means that our existence also began in outer space." Could you please elaborate on what you meant?Dr. Emoto: Five years ago, an asteroid that carried ice came down to earth. Researchers from the University of Hawaii measured it and found that it weighed 100 tons. Each year, tens of millions of such large pieces of ice fall to earth from outer space. If we calculate the amount of water that they carry, people will see that it is very possible that the water on earth originally came from outer space.
Researchers from the University of Hawaii said that maybe at the beginning there was no water on earth and the water came to earth from outer space. Many scientists and researchers don't agree with this theory, but I believe that it is correct.
Reporter: Since water came from outer space, then life also came from the outer space. Is this what you think?
Dr. Emoto: Yes, of course.
Reporter: At the end of the book, you said: "Where is the final destination of this chaotic world? How did human beings come to existence? What is their history? What will the future look like?"
Dr. Emoto: I think that human beings are the water itself. The human body is the clothing that we wear on this planet and, on other planets, the clothes might look completely different. Water is scattered over the entire universe.
I believe that the earth is like the kidney of the universe. A lot of water from the universe came to this planet. It must be purified and go back to other planets to purify those planets. Those planets need purified water.
A note with the words "You are really nauseating and disgusting. I'll kill you!" were put on the container of the water that formed this crystal. (Courtesy of Dr. Masuru Emoto)
Water is just ourselves. We human beings must purify ourselves. The reason that we came here from the universe is to be purified. Then we must go back to the universe. Other planets are waiting for us. They are saying, "Come back! Come back! Hurry up and come back! Hurry up!"
But we still remain on this earth and keep being reincarnated. We can't continue being incarnated like this. We must graduate and go back. We the human beings are just like water. We need to go back to other planets.
Reporter: But the reality is that this world has become dirtier and dirtier.
Dr. Emoto: If we continue to live like this, the planet Earth might encounter catastrophes and might come to an end. If we don't change our ways, we might have a huge flood, like what happened in [the story of] Noah's Ark.
Reporter: Then how can we avoid such catastrophes from taking place?
Dr. Emoto: It is very easy: Love and gratitude, toward each person, every single thing. If 10 percent of people can do that, then there won't be a catastrophe.
Reporter: Why 10 percent?
Dr. Emoto: Experiments have shown that if 10 percent of a bacteria colony contains good bacteria, 10 percent of it is bad, and 80 percent of it is neutral, the whole colony is good, and the good bacteria will triumph.
Dr. Emoto’s son: "Dr. Emoto did experiments with water by putting two notes on a bottle of water. One says, "Thank you!" Another says, "You are dumb!" The water formed beautiful crystals, which proves that "Thank you" triumphed over "You are dumb." That is why Dr. Emoto is trying hard to find 10 percent of people on earth who have righteous thoughts. There will be peace on earth as long as there are 10 percent of such people."
Dr. Emoto [looking at the Chinese newspapers that the reporter held in her hand]: The Chinese people are very important. There are so many of them. I don't understand why the Chinese government changed the Chinese characters. This [the newspaper] is OK. These are traditional Chinese characters.
Reporter: Why do you think there is a difference between simplified Chinese characters and traditional Chinese characters?
Dr. Emoto: Based on the way that water crystallized, the Chinese character is very good. I use traditional characters to do my experiments. The crystals formed are very beautiful.
Reporter: Did you compare traditional Chinese characters and simplified Chinese characters in your experiments?
Dr. Emoto: Not yet. I want to give it a try. A written language is a life, a life that is alive. It is the most important characteristic of humankind. I am Japanese, and I really like Japanese characters. If someone forces me not to use Japanese characters, I won't be able to live. I really don't understand the Chinese government.
Reporter: After performing your water experiments, in what ways do you think about humankind differently?
Dr. Emoto: Where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going are important mysteries, mysteries that should be unveiled. Experiments through water can enable us to unveil these mysteries.
The interview was conducted by PureInsight.org in May 2002. Dr. Emoto’s son was present as translator.
